Our Theme...
Boat Building & Paint/Draw Exploration Course
The theme for this course is Journey. Journey means, an act of traveling from one place to another and some possible synonyms are: trip, expedition, excursion, tour, trek, voyage, junket, cruise, ride, drive, jaunt. Moving from one place to another can be done physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. As we start this journey together remember that thinking ahead, communication, patience and hard work will be needed from everyone for all of us to be successful.
When a person begins a journey it is important to plan out the possible needs for the journey or to have a guide available to give advice. Making plans is important to the success of the journey when thinking of logistical things like timing, materials, space, and cost. If plans are not thought out correctly then there is possibility for waste to occur in the process of the journey. When resources are limited any amount of waste can cause delay, confusion, and possible failure. That is why thinking ahead is important to the success of the journey. There is no way to plan for all possible situations or scenarios but making sure that all ideas are in the discussion before a decision is made is the best option. Getting advice from a guide is also a great way to be successful. Often when a person is on a journey they tend to have an attitude of arrogance, over confidence, and short sightedness that causes the person to not want to listen to the advice from a more experience person. This refusal of valuable information form the guide can block and hinder positive efforts in successfully completing the journey. Setting aside arrogance, over confidence, and short sightedness and replacing it with humility, self-consciousness, and vision can greatly increase your chances of success.
It is important to also communicate with each person in the community. Clear communication helps us all do the best job that each person can do. When communicating with another person make sure that you understand what the other person is saying by restating their request in your own words and if you do not understand ask for clarification.
Being patient is giving your mind the space to find the solution that fits your abilities with the resources that you have at that time. Finding your own method of being patient is often the best solution. Trying other people’s methods is a good way to get started with being patient but ultimately the choice is your own. As the challenge of the task increases in complexity more patients will need to be used. Being patient when the work is challenging is often the most rewarding when a person finishes the job.
Giving your self the opportunity to work hard is a good thing. Often our contemporary society pushes people to be lazier by rewarding fast solutions. When hard work is needed to accomplish a given task setting your mindset to accept the hard work is the best thing for success. The main obstacle in successfully finishing a project that is hard is often your own attitude. Having a positive attitude is usually the best thing that a person can do when working on a challenging project.
As this journey with each other starts consider making this journey unique in how we interact with one another, do our work, and in what we accomplish together.
