Reflection & Art Studio Day
Today we talked about how we did this past week. Many students said that we did a good job with working, Some students offered suggestions for improvements and we talked about how important that reflection is one of the most important things a strong leader can do. Reflecting honestly is important to being a successful leader. Knowing when you have made a mistake and then working to fix it is key to the leadership role. On the other side also making sure that you honor and champion your successes is also a great mark of a strong leader.

Communication
Our group got started today with talking about our journey that we will be taking together. We also did a group activity that focused our attention to communication. We found that being intentional and honest about how we communicate is important to our success. Our activity was blindfolded bean bag drop. Each group had to guide the blindfolded student from one point to anther point and have them drop the bean bag in a bucket. It was challenging yet fun and we learned that communication is important.

Set UP
Canoes were invented by Native Americans. The basic design of a canoe today is the same design of a canoe that was made by Native People. Historically canoes were made from birch bark. Canoes are ideal for there light weight and versatility in many different water conditions. Canoes are narrow and propelled by paddles. (source, canoe.ca)
We have a space that is 15 feet wide by about 30 feet long to make the canoe.
There needs to be a dedicated space for the building of the canoe. We are setting up on the side of the auditorium.
The canoe mold was brought into the school today. We have plastic yellow chains to divide the space from the auditoriums' other users. There was time to set up the room today and get things prepared for the students to arrive on Monday.
We will start the class with talking about our expectations and how we should communicate with each other as we journey together in building this boat together.
